The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals by the score of 3 to 1 tonight at Digital Domain Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Who said the Mets can’t pitch?
  • Dillon Gee started for the Mets and was pretty solid. He allowed one run on two hits though two innings, while striking out one and walking one. The only run he gave up came from a Rick Ankiel homerum iht to left field in the second inning.
  • Matt Harvey, the talk of Mets camp this spring and the Mets’ best prospect, pitched the third and fourth innings of todays game. He shut out the Nats and did not allow any hits, but he did walk three.
  • Our new closer, Frank Francisco, let up the second run of the game, when Mark Teahen hit a sac-fly an Eury Perez scored.
  • Daniel Herrera and Tim Byrdak each pitched a scoreless inning, and Miguel Batista allowed two hits and struck out two hitters through two innings of work (one unearned run scored while he was pitching).
Only one run? What’s up with that? Here’s my tweet from the first inning of the game: #bbpBox_176810137024073729 a { text-decoration:none; color:#0084B4; }#bbpBox_176810137024073729 a:hover { text-decoration:underline; }Torres walks, steals second, and gets driven in by a single up the middle from murphy. 1-0 Mets! I like the new guy. #fbabout 4 hours ago via Twitter for BlackBerry®ReplyRetweetFavorite@MetsOnlineAdam G / MetsOnline Unfortunately, the Mets couldn’t drive in, sac-in, or simply get in any of runs after that first inning. However, Andres Torres, Josh Satin, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Mike Baxter, and Jordanny Valdespin each stole a base today. To see the full box score, click here.
