ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. Jake Odorizzi is going back to Durham, and the Tampa Bay Rays have promoted right-hander Alex Colome to bolster a fatigued bullpen.
On Tuesday night, the Rays announced that Odorizzi, a right-hander, will be moved down to Triple-A, a day after he pitched four innings and gave up six runs and eight hits in a 10-6 victory over the Miami Marlins at Tropicana Field.
On Wednesday afternoon, Colome was promoted and will work in a relief role. He's available to play later in the day during the Rays' game against the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park. A starter for Tampa Bay's game Saturday against the Cleveland Indians is still undetermined.
