Found November 13, 2012 on Philliedelphia:
The Miami Marlins disgrace to baseball continues.   Two reports have surfaced that the Marlins are unloading even more of their talent.   First, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Marlins are letting teams know that "virtually everyone" is available.   Then, Jon Morosi of Fox Sports just reported that the Marlins are close to sending the Marlins' best and prciest pitcher Josh Johnson could be headed to the Toronto Blue Jays.  Shortly thereafter another bombshell:  Jose Reyes is possibly headed to the Blue Jays too.   Ken Rosenthal, also of Fox Sports, calls Reyes "uncomfirmed" but adds that recent free agent acquisition Mark Buehrle is in the deal too. "This is not a joke", Morosi tweeted.   Well, I think it is: Jeffrey Loria is a complete joke.  I've written this many times before.    Kevin Cooney of the Bucks County Courier Times suggests Loria has committed fraud.    The Marlins and that city just bought that ugly new stadium. ...

Buehrle's pit bull not allowed in Toronto

Because pitbulls are banned in the province of Ontario, it appears Mark Buehrle's family dog, Slater, might not accompany them to Toronto after his trade to the Blue Jays.

AP source: Marlins trade Josh Johnson to Blue Jays

A person familiar with the deal says the Miami Marlins have traded right-hander Josh Johnson to the Toronto Blue Jays. The person confirmed the trade to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the teams weren't commenting amid talk they had agreed to a blockbuster deal. Johnson, who led the NL in ERA in 2010, went 8-14 this year with a 3.81 ERA for the...

Marlins Owner Jeffrey Loria Remains Defiant, Insists He Isn’t Selling Team

The Marlins have been highly criticized in the wake of their mega-trade with the Toronto Blue Jays, and perhaps rightfully so. It’s the team’s third firesale in its 20-year franchise history, and second under current owner Jeffrey Loria, who secured about 80 percent public funds for the team’s new ballpark which opened in 2012 — a cost which could rise to about $2.4 billion...

Marlins Trade Johnson, Reyes, Buehrle To Blue Jays In Blockbuster Deal

The Miami Marlins and Toronto Blue Jays have completed a 10 player blockbuster deal on Tuesday night, according to multiple reports. The Blue Jays will get shortstop Jose Reyes, starting pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle, catcher John Buck, and outfielder Emilio Bonifacio. In return, the Marlins receive shortstop Yunel Escobar, top prospects outfielder Jake Marisnick...

Defiant Marlins owner Loria rebuffs talk of fire sale

Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria doesn't care if he's taking heat for the huge 12-player deal between his team and the Toronto Blue Jays. "We finished in last place. Figure it out," Loria told CBSSports.com on Wednesday as he headed for the Major League Baseball owners meetings in Chicago. Loria was both defiant and almost confrontational in his brief exchange...

21 NSFW Marlins Fans Wishing Death To Jeffrey Loria After Fire Sale

Who knew the Marlins had such passionate fans? The stadium is always empty so it came as quite a shock that so many Marlins bros were pissed off after yesterday’s blockbuster trade. Owner Jeffrey Loria caught the brunt of the anger and hate, including numerous death and rape wishes. Really? All this over a washed up Mark Buehrle? An overpaid, injury prone Jose Reyes? One bro, ...

How the Miami Marlins Lost Their Minds

Marlins owner, Jeffery Loria There are some articles where you just don’t know where to begin. The roots of this one stretch back to the Montreal Expos, touch on the Baltimore Orioles (he nearly owned them), and have their roots in ripping people off. I’m talking about Jeffery Loria, along with David Samson, and the Miami Marlins. They aren’t a dumb lot, these guys...

Miami Marlins: Irrelevant Again

The Miami Marlins made a big splash last offseason by bringing in Ozzie Guillen as manager and signing big name free agents Jose Reyes, Heath Bell and Mark Buehrle. Needless to say all those players are now not a part of the Marlins. In a clear move to dump salary, the Marlins traded away Reyes, Buehrle and Josh Johnson to the Toronto Blue Jays for basically nothing. For a team...

They are trading ace Josh Johnson, SS Jose Reyes and P Mark Buehrle along with C John Buck and utility guy Emilio Bonafacio to the Toronto Blue Jays for among others SS Yunel Escobar and a handful of...

The Marlins will receive Yunel Escobar, Justin Nicolino, Henderson Alvarez and Adeiny Hechavarria among other pieces. Word is also surfacing that Jose Reyes may be on his way to Toronto also. Now That's What I Call A Blockbuster

By now you are all familiar with the biggest trade in Blue Jays history that went down last night. The blogosphere as a whole are pretty excited about this deal. However, I'm gonna go out on a big limb right now and actually chalk this one up as a loss for the Blue Jays. I think the major victory, and the source for most of the excitement, is really just about the fact that Rogers...

How To Write a List of the Worst Owners Ever

Every so often, someone somewhere will write a “worst owners ever” list. It’s almost always timely, since between the four major sports there is always at least one horrendously incompetent or actively malign owner who is justifiably despised by fans. And it ticks off two key attributes for successful search engine optimization: the format easily lends itself to a photo gallery...

The Marlins Are a Well-Run Company

It’s true, probably. If you remove emotion from the equation, the Marlins of the past two decades have been a successful corporation. Even under the newest ownership, they’ve satisfied all of the requirements you might put on a great franchise. Your appraisal of their work to date, and even their trade this week, includes emotion, but an honest eye towards the bottom line can...
