Jered Weaver threw a no-hitter against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night, and there may not have been a calmer person in the park than his father, Dave. Dave Weaver was sipping a beer as his son was one out away from recording the 10th no-hitter in Angels franchise history. No pressure, right?

“It’s unbelievable, it’s one of these things where you never expect it,” Weaver told FSN West after the game. “Jered’s worked really hard, so I can’t be happier for him. I’m very proud of him — it’s just unbelievable.”

Dave explained that he didn’t get tense until Jered was two outs away from the no-hitter. His reasoning was that his other son, Jeff, once lost a no-hit bid on the final out.

Alexi Casilla came close to breaking it up on the final out, but luckily Torii Hunter hauled in a lined shot to deep right for the last out. We’re guessing Dave did plenty of guzzling to polish that thing off before heading down to the field to congratulate his son.

Oh, and I must wrap up this article with the obligatory “Jered Weaver has more no-hitters this season than Albert Pujols has home runs” line. Well done, Weav, you deserve it.
