Former Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell threw out the first pitch at the Sox-Mariners game at the Fens Saturday night, and an open mic caught some not-so-kind words directed towards Lowell from Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy. Just as the cameras came back for the fourth inning showing Lowell and his kids receiving another standing ovation from the Fenway crowd, Remy's live microphone caught him calling Lowell an "arrogant athlete."
But before you go and call Remy an asshole for the comment, you have to consider that he might have just been joking around in the booth. I've never heard a bad thing said about Mike Lowell, a fan favorite in Boston, and he's always been labeled as a classy guy...so it's possible Remy could have just been trying to get a laugh. If that's the case, it was a success- because you can clearly hear fellow broadcaster Don Orsillo laughing after he made the comment.
Either way, I'm sure Remy didn't want anyone other tha...
