It was perhaps a little bit too much to hope for to begin with, but Jesse Litsch was unable to do his usual magic act to hold the Yankees’ offense back in a 2-5 loss for the Blue Jays this afternoon. Headed into today’s series, the Blue Jays’ starter held a 5.72ERA/1.62WHIP split against the Bronx Bombers, and Litsch added to those numbers today – allowing 5 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks over 6 innings of work. It was the type of start to be expected from Litsch – he went long enough not to have to strain the bullpen, but gave up his share of runs to put the Jays behind. Most of the damage done today were from the long ball: Litsch allowed two home runs on the day, one a solo shot from Mark Teixeira, and the other a 3-run shot in the 5th from Curtis Granderson that put the Jays behind for good.
