The only thing Jim Leyland has had to worry about since the Tigers arrived in Cleveland, is getting a sore hand from all the high-fives he is offering while his Tigers return to the dug-out after crossing the plate. The Tigers had a game and a half lead over the Indians before starting this series at Progressive field, now that lead has grown to 3-1/2 games with 2 games left to play in the series. Detroit has out-scored the Indians by 12 runs in the first 2 games. The Tigers will give Doug Fister the start this afternoon against the Indians Corey Kluber. Fister is 5-3 in his 12 starts against the Indians. The Tigers haven’t been kind to Indians pitching on this trip. If Kluber can’t stop the Tigers offense, the Indians will be in trouble once again. Detroit could come away from this game with a 4-1/2 game lead in the A.L. Central. Leyland has to be pleased with what he is seeing from his team thus far. If the Tigers take both of the games left in Cleveland the Tigers will have a 7 game win streak in place. Two more than any other win streak this season.

Game 2013.86: Tigers at Indians

Detroit Tigers: 47-38, 2nd Place (2.5 ahead of Cleveland).  Yes, it’s that time of the season, that 4th of July lull where DTW game threads only draw a couple of comments and places like ESPN resort to discussing topics such as the All-Star game snubs before the teams are actually named. Snub predictions, I guess. Anyway, despite the lulliness of the week the Tigers are in gear...

Photo: Miguel Cabrera literally flattens a baseball upon contact

There's a reason why last year Miguel Cabrera took home baseball's first Triple Crown in decades and is threatening to do so once again. He flattens baseballs, enough said.

Torontoii Hunter makes MLB All Star team according to ESPN

When announcing the MLB All Star teams on Saturday night, ESPN made a bit of a mistake on the AL All Star reserves.  Rather than list Torii Hunter of the Detroit Tigers, Torontoii Hunter was listed.  No word on Torontoii’s career stats, but I imagine they’re pretty bad.  Good job, good effort, ESPN.  Perhaps a little proofreading next time? Torontoii Hunter? Must be a new...

Tigers place Darin Downs on DL with rotator cuff tendinitis

The Detroit Tigers’ bullpen took another hit yesterday, as the team placed left-handed reliever Darin Downs on the 15-day disabled list with rotator cuff tendinitis in his throwing arm, according to Jason Beck of MLB.com. Downs pitched the ninth inning of Saturday’s contest, and after his outing he reported soreness in his shoulder. He surrendered two hits during...

Photographic Evidence That Miguel Cabrera Is An Absolute Freak Of Nature

It may just be me, but I thought that baseballs were not supposed to be able to be flattened like this. You have to love the phantom camera when it produces images like this. All evidence would seem to suggest that Miguel Cabrera swings a baseball bat hard. [Dane Brugler] Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Indians look to rebound vs Tigers

Torii Hunter and Miguel Cabrera are two big reasons the Detroit Tigers have dominated the Cleveland Indians this season. The veteran pair again looks to lead the visiting Tigers as they try for an eighth consecutive victory over the struggling Indians on Sunday. Hunter came within a single of the cycle and had three RBIs while Cabrera hit a two-run homer to help Detroit (48-38) to...

Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder successfully pull off double steal (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. You might have to wipe your eyes to actually believe what you see. Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder, two of the most imposing hitters in baseball, actually pulled off a double steal during the Detroit Tigers’ 9-6 loss to the Cleveland Indians on Sunday. Game 2013.87: Tigers at Indians

Detroit Tigers: 48-38, 1st Place (3.5 ahead of Cleveland).  Detroit continued its dominance of the division rival Cleveland Indians last night, with a 9-4 win which featured a good 5-inning return by Anibal Sanchez. The Tigers have now taken 7 in a row from the Tribe, and 8-of-10 for the season. The Tigers have already outscored Cleveland 16-4 in this series, and 49-22 over the...

Prince Fielder turns one of the strangest double plays ever

In the bottom of the 5th inning, with a massive 7-1, Detroit Tigers first baseman Prince Fielder turned an incredibly strange double play.  Cleveland Indians outfielder Drew Stubbs hit a blooper to Prince, which he dropped.  The ball was still in fair territory, but base runner Lonnie Chisenhall didn’t run.  Prince casually walked over to Chisenhall, tagged him on the leg and...

Tigers' Porcello shuts down Indians

Rick Porcello is somewhat of an afterthought on Detroit's deep and talented pitching staff. On Friday night, he was second to none. Porcello pitched seven sharp innings, Jhonny Peralta and Victor Martinez drove in two runs apiece and the Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians for the sixth consecutive time, winning 7-0 to extend their lead in the AL Central. Porcello (5-6) allowed...

Miguel Cabrera among six Tigers headed to the 2013 All-Star Game in New York

The Detroit Tigers will be well represented at this year’s mid summer’s classic in Queens, New York. Six Tigers in total were selected to represent the American League squad as this year’s game may hold a little more significance for fans given the Tigers being favorites to make another trip to the World Series this season. For the first time in his career Miguel Cabrera will...

Six Tigers heading to the All-Star Game

Max Scherzer, the Detroit Tigers undefeated pitcher, has been named an All-Star for the first time in his career and third baseman Miguel Cabrera was voted in as a starter for the first time.
