So, yeah...this is refreshing. While most of America was gearing up for the Thanksgiving holiday on Wednesday, former big leaguer Jim Thome was in Washington, Illinois seeing, first hand, the destruction left behind by a November 17 tornado. "I've never seen anything like it in my life," the future Hall of Famer said. "The devastation literally took my breath away. I knew at that moment that (my wife) Andrea and I would do whatever we could to help the people of Washington, so near to where I grew up, and home to my brother Randy and his family.  We are so grateful that my former teams stepped up to join us in our efforts to help." Thome, who grew up in nearby Peoria, ponied up $100,000 to help with tornado relief.  And joining him in the cause...four of his former teams (the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies) also plan to contribute. "I'm so thankful for a Central Illinois guy thinking about us," Washinton Mayor Gary Manier said of Thome.  "You don't really know what to say."
