Mets will discuss options regarding Johan Santana

New York Mets starter, Johan Santana, suffered his seventh loss of the season on Friday night allowing six earned runs on seven hits over three innings of work: This is now the third straight start in which Santana has allowed six or more runs and since tossing his no-hitter on June 1, the former Cy-Young Award winner is 3-5 with a 6.54 ERA (31 ER/42 2/3 IP). Johan is averaging...

Fate May Have Dealt Santana And The Mets A Fatal Blow Last Night

Yesterday, I called Johan Santana’s start last night both critical and pivotal. If Johan went out there and stymied the Dodgers with a  gem of a performance, then it was imperative for the front office to add a proven and effective reliever for the bullpen, a possible upgrade at catcher, and a right-handed bat with power who could play corner outfield. However, if Santana tossed...

The Rise And Fall of Johan Santana

How the mighty have fallen. Johan Santana, whose bounceback campaign hit an unexpected high on June 1 when he threw the franchise’s first no-hitter, has not only come back to Earth, but he’s done it in a way no one could see coming. Through his first 11 starts of the season, which ended with the hitless gem, the southpaw was vintage Santana, going 3-2 with a 2.38 ERA, 1.03...

Mets' Santana goes on 15-day DL

Johan Santana has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sore right ankle, the latest setback for the fading New York Mets since the All-Star break. The left-hander has struggled mightily since Reed Johnson of the Chicago Cubs stepped on his ankle July 6 on a play at first base. The Mets decided Saturday to put their ace on the DL so his ankle can fully heal and he can also...

Johan Santana placed on DL

New York Met starting pitcher Johan Santana was placed on the 15 day disabled list on Saturday due to a sore ankle. According to a report on CBSsports.com, Santana’s ankle injury has led to fatigue that has resulted in his recent struggles since his no-hitting. Would Mets Fans Have Sacrificed Johan Santana No-Hitter For Healthier Stretch Run?

Ever since Johan Santana became the first pitcher in the 50 year history of the New York Mets to throw a no-hitter back on June 1 after compiling a 134 pitch count, the Mets’ ace has posted a 6.54 ERA while allowing 11 home runs over 42 2/3 innings. The Mets have also struggled overall, as they have fallen in the National League East and Wild Card standings. People...

Mets Place Johan Santana On DL With Ankle Injury

The Mets have placed Johan Santana on the disabled list with an ankle injury. This is the same ankle injury that Santana suffered in his start against the Cubs two weeks ago after Reed Johnson stepped on it in a collision at first base. Terry Collins said that Santana’s injured ankle was not allowing him to land properly and that his shoulder is fine. Collins is also concerned...

Back inflammation send Santana to DL

New York Mets ace Johan Santana is headed to the disabled list and not expected to pitch again this season. General manager Sandy Alderson said Wednesday that the left-hander was going on the 15-day DL with inflammation in his lower back. Doctors are not recommending surgery. Santana has had an up-and-down season in his return from shoulder surgery that kept him out more than...

Mets place Santana on DL

Slumping New York Mets left-handed starter Johan Santana was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a sore right ankle. Santana allowed six runs for his third straight start Friday and has struggled in general since his no-hitter on June 1. Santana hurt his ankle July 6 when the Chicago Cubs' Reed Johnson stepped on it during a play at first base. "We'...

Dodgers rough up Santana, edge Mets

NEW YORK -- The Los Angeles Dodgers did more damage against New York Mets starter Johan Santana than the Mets' suspect bullpen, then watched their own relievers barely hold on. The Dodgers scored six runs in the first three innings against Santana, building an early lead before withstanding the Mets' rally for a 7-6 win Friday night at CitiField. Matt Kemp and Luis Cruz...

Mets Fall to Dodgers: The Morning After

Here we are again, Mets fans. This team has not played decent baseball since well before the All-Star Break and things are beginning to fall apart. After a disappointing loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night, the Mets have fallen to 4.5 GB in the Wild Card race. New York still trails the Washington Nationals in the National League East by seven games. The Mets fell behind...

Standings: Where the Mets stand in the NL

Even though it has been a very rough last week, the Mets are still in it. They are only 3.5 games behind a playoff spot, and arguably just went through the roughest week the team has gone through all season long. This team has amazed us all season, and I hope that they don’t stop amazing us. The real reason why not making it interesting in september would be heartbreaking for...
