in the 7th inning helped the Pirates take 2 of 3 for the second straight series as they beat the Rox today 11-4. The win today makes two straight wins for the Pirates and gives them a 4-2 record on this homestand. It looks like things are starting to turn around for the Pirates. The win today improves the 6th place Pirates record to 16-21 .432 -7.
The Lumber Company put up 11 runs on 15 hits with the leaders being;
Young and McLouth scoring 2 runs each,
McLouth with 3 hits,
McLouth with 4 RBIs,
McLouth with a HR.
In the field the Bucs had one error by Diaz on a throw. They did turn a DP.
On the mound the Staff gave up 4 runs on 8 hits with the starter Duke 5-3 4.84 going 7 innings allowing 4 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 4 Ks. He was followed by Meek who closed the game going 2 innings with 2 hits and 2 Ks. A good outing by the staff.
The Pirates next play tomorrow at 7:05 pm ET against the Washington Nationals. The starters will be Ohlendorf 4-3 3.77 vs. DetWiler 0-0 0.00. Ohlendorf has never thrown against the Nats.
