Jon Rauch has debris in his elbow, and will miss this series against the Nationals, according to Adam Rubin ESPN New York.
The Mets will not currently place him on the DL.
Honestly, not a huge loss at this point. However, it’s one less pitcher in your bullpen, and Mets starting pitchers aren’t going to go 7+ innings everyday. So it’s critically important that Rauch gets healthy so the Mets don’t have to play a man down for long. And I know Rauch has been bad, but to see a guy like Schwinden come up from the minors again… would just be too hard to watch.

Mets Minors: Collin McHugh ready for the next step
The Mets have a lot of pitchers in their system that seem to succeed despite being later draft picks. Collin McHugh is one such example. Drafted in the 18th round of the 2008 draft, McHugh left college for the big leagues.
When I look back at McHugh’s time with the Mets it’s hard for me to find too much to fault. He signed quickly and played in Rookie Ball back in 2008...
Gavin Cecchini and the Mets’ draft picks in the first 15 rounds
Round 1: Gavin Cecchini – There are quite a few Met fans who are angry with this decision. The Mets could have gone after Hawkins or Giolito… but I think that Gavin actually fits pretty well into the Met’s farm system. Obviously, the Mets are not gifted with a plethora of SS options in their minors (the draft will prove this point) as Ruben Tejada is the MLB short-stop...
Jason Bay should return Tueday against Washington
According to Adam Rubin of ESPN NY, Terry Collins said he is planning for Jason Bay to return from the disabled list for Tuesday's series opener in Washington, which will add to the outfield depth but also create challenges in terms of dividing up playing time.
The manager noted he will get a reprieve in filling out the lineup card when the Mets play six straight games in...
Comedian Bill Maher Buys A Piece Of The Amazins
Last night, the Mets announced that comedian Bill Maher is now a new limited partner with the Mets after purchasing a minority stake in the team.
“I think it’s a great investment,” Maher said. “I think it’s a great team that I’ve been rooting for since they came into existence, which was soon after I came into existence.”

There’s No Crying in Baseball! I Beg to Differ…
How can a moment like this not bring a die-hard Mets fan to tears?
One of my all-time favorite sports movies is “A League of Their Own”, which chronicled the installation of women’s baseball during World War 2 in order to keep the nation’s spirits up while many of the professional men’s players were away fighting. From reading a little about the actual history, the movie...

After taking Louisiana high school shortstop Gavin Cecchini 12th overall and Purdue catcher Kevin Plawecki with the 35th pick on the opening night of the draft, the Mets continued their selections Tuesday.
The Mets' selections at Nos. 35 and 71 overall came as compensation for losing Jose Reyes to the Marlins.

He came, he saw, celebrated. He wore jorts.
At the conclusion of Johan Santana’s no-hitter against the Cardinals on Friday night, viewers were treated to rogue miscreant celebrating on the field with Mets players, who swarmed their pitcher following the 8-0 victory. The man jumped along the outer celebration circle in a Gary Carter jersey before he was brought to the ground by [...]

Cardinals 5, Mets 4
NEW YORK -- The New York Mets got another impressive pitching performance by their starter, but the St. Louis Cardinals countered with a better one, allowing their slumping offense to find itself in a late comeback win. The Cardinals bullpen then barely held off the Mets as St. Louis salvaged the final game of the four-game series with a 5-4 win Monday. The Mets trailed 5-3 after...
