Does Home Run Insurance Exist? FanIQ: Even though the Boston Red Sox handily won today’s contest with the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 10-4, one presumable Red Sox fan will not be going home happy. Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista managed to significantly dent the roof of an SUV parked behind Fenway with a home run he sent sailing over the Green Monster. A.B. Just an absolute bomb. I was at the game and saw this live. The ball was over the monster and out of the park in the blink of an eye. Only thing better would have been if he hit a Prius.

GIFcap: Jose Bautista Hits Ball Out Of Fenway Park, Dents Car In Parking Lot

I wish that Jose Bautista homer was counted as ten runs

Jose Bautista’s monster shot exits Fenway, dents SUV in parking lot (video)

Jose Bautista absolutely mashed a home run during the 4th inning of Wednesday’s tilt between the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. With Boston in control with a 7-1 lead, Bautista unloaded on a Jon Lester pitch, drilling it over the Green Monster and depositing it in a nearby parking lot, [...]

Omar Vizquel to retire after season

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Omar Vizquel said Tuesday his majestic 24-year career will be coming to an end at the conclusion of this season. The 45-year-old began his career with the Mariners and went on to have stints at the Indians, Giants, Rangers and White Sox, before joining the Blue Jays this season. He appeared in two World Series with the Indians, in 1995 and 1997, but...

Does Toronto or Boston Have the Most Dangerous 3-4 Combo in the American League?

For years, the most feared 3-4 combo in the American League was David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez. Now, that title might belong to division rivals Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion. The past two seasons, Bautista has lead the league in home runs and is at the front of the pack once again this year with 24 dingers. Encarnacion, like Bautista, has found his power stroke, sitting fourth...

2012 Uniform Changes: Toronto Blue Jays Celebrate Canada Day

The Blue Jays celebrate Canada Day! On a side note, I think that all teams in baseball should be required to wear hats with Canadian Flags in them, since we force Canada to celebrate in our American Holidays across baseball. But I guess since a lot their stars and stripes hat have the Canadian Flag in them, we wear our American Flag? Anyway its another opportunity to pander the crowds...

OPS Fantasy Leagues: I Fought The Lawrie And The Lawrie Won

Brett Lawrie is finally starting to live up to the hype he had coming into this season. After hovering around a .700 OPS in April and May, Lawrie has an .870 OPS in June. This is especially encouraging because his BABIP and his HR/FB in June are not indicating that he may simply be receiving good luck. Instead, his entire approach appears to have been reworked, with a walk rate nearly...

Romero's rough outing adds to Jays' rotation woes

As if the Toronto Blue Jays don't have enough to worry about with their rotation decimated by injuries, there has to be concern about the one starter who should cause the least problems of all, ace Ricky Romero. Insisting that he feels no pressure with three starters out long-term because of injury -- Brandon Morrow (strained oblique), Kyle Drabek (elbow surgery) and Drew Hutchison...

Toronto Blue Jays: Adam Lind is back

Before I get to Monday’s game against the Boston Red Sox, I got some news about the Toronto Blue Jays.  Adam Lind re-joined the team on Monday after spending a month in Triple A Las Vegas. Adam Lind The Jays opened the scoring at the top of the first inning when Colby Ramus hit a two run homer.  The Jays increased their lead in the same inning when Edwin Encarnacion drove in...

Omar Vizquel's Flawless Defense, Impressive Longevity Make Strong Case for Hall of Fame Induction

BOSTON –– Omar Vizquel managed to outlast Father Time. Over the course of his 24-year career, as he's aged, the shortstop has kept pushing through each season. Despite bouncing around clubs ¬–– three teams in the last three years –– Vizquel defied the odds in baseball with his ability to hang around the game. But at 45, Vizquel has realized the ride is over. Before...

What Happened to Ricky Romero

Right now, like as this is being written, Ricky Romero is in the process of getting bombed by the Red Sox. The 27-year-old lefty just finished an inning in which he gave up a double to Dustin Pedroia between two walks before an error and a few groundouts allowed singles from Mike Aviles and Darnell McDonald to plate some runs. Six runs in all. So far all the balls in play have been...

Blue Jays will give Moyer two minor league "tryout" starts

The Toronto Blue Jays should find out quickly how left-hander Jamie Moyer fits into their desperate pitching situation. Moyer was signed to a minor league contract Monday and is expected to make two starts for Class AAA Las Vegas. The Blue Jays will decide then whether to bring him to Toronto or let him try his luck elsewhere. "There's no guarantees, but we want a...

Red Sox rally against Blue Jays' relievers to get win

BOSTON -- With Toronto's rotation ravaged by injuries left-hander Aaron Laffey was pressed into starting duty in the big leagues for the first time since July 19, 2010. Laffey gave the Blue Jays an impressive outing, going six scoreless innings, giving up three hits and two walks with two strikeouts. But turning the game over to the Jays bullpen in the seventh was Toronto...

Jays still look like buyers - for the moment

For now, the Toronto Blue Jays give little indication that they intend to trade potential free agents such as designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion and second baseman Kelly Johnson. To the contrary, the Jays continue to maintain a buyer’s posture, sending multiple scouts to at least two recent starts by Astros left-hander Wandy Rodriguez’s and maintaining contact with the Cubs...
