Found April 22, 2012 on Oriole Post:
Happy trails, Josh Bell. The Orioles sent him to the Arizona Diamondbacks after he was designated for assignment last week. The Orioles today announced that they have assigned INF JOSH BELL to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for a player to be named later. Bell had been designated for assignment April 16 when the Orioles claimed CA LUIS EXPOSITO on waivers from Boston. Bell, 25, batted .200/.221/.264 in 79 games with the Orioles in 2010 and 2011.  He was acquired by Baltimore on July 30, 2009 in exchange for LHP GEORGE SHERRILL. Bell, when he has played in the majors (sparingly), looked good at points in the field; however, he never figured out how to hit at the major league level. He came to the team overweight, got in shape and seemed to be making an effort, but it all never clicked. He more or less was a strikeout machine and never could make consistent contact for the team to really give him much of a shot. Bell was given a few extended stints in the majors...

Ransom perseveres, helps D-backs end skid

PHOENIX -- Hitting a baseball is said to be the toughest task in sports, and the Diamondbacks' Cody Ransom has taken the degree of difficulty to a new level. Ransom made his first start of the season Sunday while in the process of attempting to pass a kidney stone. It did not seem to affect him. Ransom doubled with two outs to pass the baton in what became a five-run second...

Arizona places RHP Hudson on DL with sore shoulder

The Arizona Diamondbacks, already troubled by injuries, have placed right-hander Daniel Hudson on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder impingement. Hudson, the No. 2 starter behind Ian Kennedy, was 1-1 with a 6.00 ERA in three starts. He allowed two runs and six hits in 7 2-3 innings against Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Arizona recalled right-hander Jonathan Albaledejo from...

Shoulder issue lands D-backs' Hudson on DL

The Diamondbacks, already playing without star outfielders Justin Upton and Chris Young, announced Saturday that right-hander Daniel Hudson has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with an "impingement" in his pitching shoulder. The move was made retroactive to Thursday, when Hudson made his last start. The D-backs recalled right-hander Jonathan Albaladejo from Triple...

Upton back in the lineup despite soreness

PHOENIX The soreness in Justin Upton's left thumb is irrelevant to him at this point. Upton returned to the lineup Saturday after missing four starts, and he plans to remain is his No. 3 spot in the order going forward. The medical staff told Upton he could do no further damage to the bone bruise in his thumb unless he jams it again, and it is a risk he is willing to take...

Without stars, D-backs' offense has gone dark

PHOENIX -- The Diamondbacks are still trying to work through the loss of top offensive threats Chris Young and Justin Upton. It is not easy in itself, and Atlantas young pitching is not helping. Right-hander Brandon Beachy was as unhittable in a 9-1 victory Friday as left-hander Mike Minor was in a 10-2 victory the night before, and the D-backs are now in the midst of their longest...

Daniel Hudson Latest D-back on the DL

The Arizona Diamondbacks have dealt with as many injuries this month as they did throughout all of last season. Top-of-the-rotation starter Daniel Hudson is the latest to suffer an injury, and the D-backs have decided to let swingman Wade Miley fill in rather than turn to one of their top prospects in the minors.

Diamondbacks acquire Bell from Orioles

The Arizona Diamondbacks have acquired third baseman Josh Bell from the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday for a player to be named. The Orioles designated Bell for assignment on Monday when they claimed Luis Exposito off waivers from Boston. The 25-year-old is hitting .094 with three RBIs in nine games at Triple-A Norfolk. All three of his hits this season have been for extra bases...

D-backs look to end skid, stop Braves' sweep

The Arizona Diamondbacks couldn't get enough from their stingiest starting pitcher to end their recent woes. They're hoping their winningest one over the past three seasons will provide them with that much-needed boost. Ian Kennedy will attempt to end his team's five-game skid by denying the Atlanta Braves a season-high sixth consecutive win Sunday and their first four...

Trevor Bauer Named Pitcher of the Week

Arizona Diamondbacks top prospect Trevor Bauer has been named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on April 22. That is not enough to earn him a major league callup, however, even with Daniel Hudson heading to the disabled list.

Diamondbacks 6, Braves 4

Gerardo Parra hit his first career grand slam to cap a five-run second inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Atlanta Braves 6-4 Sunday, snapping a five-game losing streak. Ian Kennedy (3-0) posted his seventh straight win dating to last August. The Diamondbacks helped him by scoring more than two runs for the first time in four games. David Hernandez retired the side in...

Orioles trade Josh Bell to the Diamondbacks

The Baltimore Orioles have traded third baseman Josh Bell to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange of a Player To Be Named Later or cash considerations according to Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun. Bell was designated for assignment last week after the Orioles claimed Luis Exposito off waivers from the Red Sox. Bell last played in the Majors in 2011 and hit .164/.215/.164 in 61...
