When Josh Outman was recalled from AAA after missing basically the previous two seasons due to Tommy Johns surgery I was not sure what to expect. Before having the surgery Outman looked like a good up and coming pitcher for the A’s. Since his return he had struggled in AAA. I was wondering how long it would be before he would be pitching well enough to make it back to the bigs. Then the A’s got hit with the injury bug and Outman got a chance. Since the call up Outman has been one of the better starters on the staff. He has pitched much better than his time in the minors. Last night Outman picked up his second win of the season and lowered his era to a solid 3.14. The key for him has been cutting down on the walks and he has only given up 1 home run in 25 innings pitched. If Josh Outman can continue to pitch like this he is going to make a strong case to be the A’s fourth or fifth starter going into next season. He could also possibly be used as trade bait. Either...
