Kansas City Royals fans just can't seem to catch a break, can they?Considering they having made the playoffs since the midpoint of the Reagan Administration, you'd think the Royals would take it a little easier on their fan, er, fans.Thursday morning, the team sent out an email giving their faithful the opportunity to purchase tickets for Opening Day.  The subject line of the email..."Your Royals Opening Day Ticket Opportunity".  Too good to be true, right?Seriously, imagine your joy if, say, you were one of the thousands that is actually looking forward to seeing Billy Butler, Alex Gordon and the rest of the team continue its march toward mediocrity and this was the email you received.Notice something a little out of place?  I'll wait while you read the email a little closer. Yup.  The email clearly states that your "Opening Day Ticket Opportunity" is limited to purchasing tickets to any game except, well...Opening Day.Pretty sneaky, guys.Kansas City Royals baseball fever...catch it!  Except, well, you can't unless, I mean...hey, we've got tickets for the other 80 games we'll play at home.***Big thanks to I-70 Baseball.***

Hope for the Royals in 2013 (no, seriously)

Spring Training is here!!!  Royals pitchers and catchers have reported and the rest of the squad is due in late this week.  As they say in Major League Baseball, hope springs eternal.  Every team has a chance for hope-even if they lost 100 games the previous season.  There are constant examples of worst to first for downtrodden franchises to cling to as an explanation of how...

Bruce Chen Withdraws From Rotation

The Kansas City Royals rebuilt their rotation this offseason, leaving Bruce Chen to compete for a spot in order to continue being a starter for the team.  On Tuesday, Chen removed himself from the rotation.  Not for the Royals, but for the team being fielded by China for the World Baseball Classic. Many players have expressed interest in playing for their respective national teams...

The Royals And Latin America

As we all know, Kansas City has carried a dismal baseball franchise since 1985. But as spring training rolls around, we have to again acknowledge how well the Royals have done in the Latin American talent market. Everyone who pays very much attention to the Royals will directly turn there heads up to the sky and wink at their mental image of Salvador Perez, the Royals’ up and...

Royals Fans Feel Duped

Kansas City Royals fans woke up to an exciting email in their inbox today, they had been given the opportunity to purchase Opening Day tickets.  Once they opened the email, frustration set in very quickly. The subject line of the email gave fans reason to get fired up, it read “Your Royals Opening Day Ticket Opportunity”.  Many fans had signed up recently for the opportunity...

Forecast of the Foes: KC Royals 2013 Preview

The White Sox won just six out of 18 games against the Kansas City Royals last season, and for those who followed the team closely, even that six seems like a high number.   While those pesky Royals beat the Sox brains in, the fact is that Kansas City went 22-32 against the rest of the division, was a 90 loss team, and had the same problem they did for really the...

Fourteen Players, Three Roster Spots

For the first time in several years, the Royals lineup, starting rotation and bullpen is pretty much set, barring injuries. But opportunities exist for some players to get a spot on the bench. It’s likely Manager Ned Yost will go with 12 pitchers and a backup catcher. Add the eight position players and the designated hitter and there’s only three reserve player spots available...

Salvador Perez May Be Making Crucial Error

The Kansas City Royals made a strong case last year that Salvador Perez was worthy of a long term contract extension.  After sustaining an injury in the spring, Perez returned to action during the season and seemingly proved that the organization was right.  A rebuilt pitching staff puts a larger focus on Perez’s ability behind the plate in 2013.  As the season looms in the horizon...
