The Los Angeles Dodgers are in desperate need of offense. They averaging just 3.52 runs per game in June and might not get superstar Matt Kemp back until after the All-Star break. Manager Don Mattingly said on Monday that Kemp, who has been out since May 31 with a left hamstring strain, has been cleared to participate in the Home Run Derby but won't play in the All-Star Game, scheduled for July 9 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, unless he plays for the Dodgers beforehand. "We're hoping to get him back after the break," Mattingly told the Los Angeles Times, adding that Kemp would need to play at least five games on a minor league rehab assignment before returning to the Dodgers. Kemp, the National League captain for the Home Run Derby, and is hitting .355 with 12 home runs in 36 games this season. But Kemp has also missed 38 of the last 40 games with two left hamstring strains. The Dodgers' 8-0 loss to the Giants on Monday night was their sixth loss i...

Matt Kemp Preparing For July Return

The Dodgers MVP Matt Kemp has undoubtedly been missed over the last several weeks. The Dodgers have lost their last 7-out-of-10 games, after the loss last night to the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers also find themselves without the best record in baseball. To make matters worse, the Giants are now only two games back in the NL West heading into tonight's game. Kemp&...

Matt Kemp Is A Jerkface

I hate throwing around harsh language. I'm both a gentleman and a scholar (according to my mom) so only on the rare occasion would I stoop to calling someone that word. But Matt Kemp is , earmuffs kids, a jerkface. I said it. But why? Kemp, the NL Home Run Derby captain, will not pick Bryce Harper to participate in the event he was born to win..."It's not because he...

Matt Kemp all but ruled out of All-Star game

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers have all but ruled out injured slugger Matt Kemp for next month's All-Star game in Kansas City. General manager Ned Colletti calls it a "long shot" for Kemp to play, with the outfielder still recovering from a strained left hamstring that landed him on the disabled list for a second time this season May 31. The 2011 NL...

In bad news, Matt Kemp won’t be back by the end of June, and they’re not even sure if he can make it back by the All-Star break now. Kemp has played one game since May 14 because of a left hamstring he strained twice. Mattingly said the club wants Kemp to play in five

Dodgers' Ethier might follow Kemp to DL

As if the eight losses in nine games wasn't enough to make for a bad road trip for the Los Angeles Dodgers, the club suffered what could be another significant injury. Right fielder Andre Ethier left Wednesday's game in San Francisco in the middle of the first inning because of a left oblique injury. Ethier had walked and was erased at second base on a groundball double...

Bryce Harper Deserves Home Run Derby Invite, Regardless of How Many More Chances He May Get

Matt Kemp is making a mistake. Usually, he doesn't do that. Usually, he capitalizes on mistakes and sends them over the wall in Dodger Stadium. Instead, he's leaving fans wondering why he wants to leave one of the best young talents in baseball -- and one of the league's best stories -- out in left field when picking his team for All-Star festivities. Kemp, who as captain...

Mets-Dodgers Preview

Already playing without injured MVP candidate Matt Kemp, the offensively challenged Los Angeles Dodgers could be in for an even rockier road ahead with Andre Ethier sidelined. They may not need a whole lot of support with Chris Capuano on the hill against his former team. Capuano looks to stay unbeaten at home and the Dodgers try to avoid being shut out for a fourth straight game...
