After breaking his leg on a freak injury last summer, Angels slugger Kendry Morales is still feeling tightness in his left ankle and may not be ready to play come opening day, ESPN reports.
Said the website:
Doctors inserted six screws into Morales’ fractured left ankle last June, shortly after he injured his leg while jumping onto home plate after a game-winning grand slam on May 29.
“If I’m not ready, I’m mentally prepared for that situation,” the Angels slugger said. “I already know that could be a possibility.”
Morales had hit 11 homeruns and driven in 39 RBIs in 51 games before his injury. He hit 30 homeruns in 2009. Expectations in the Angels organization are that Morales will return to form in 2011.
