The latest news before Tuesday night’s wet game with the Seattle Mariners at Fenway Park was the return of back-up catcher Kevin Cash. After straining his hamstring a few weeks ago in New York, Cash was put on the shelf to recover and Jarrod Saltalamacchia was brought up to fill-in. Unfortunately, Salty got the bad infection in his leg and the Sox called upon Dusty Brown to take over in that role. Now that Cash has returned, Brown will return to AAA Pawtucket and likely wait for his next opportunity in the big leagues. The way this season has gone with injuries, he better be ready at a moment’s notice. In his 2nd stint with the Red Sox, Brown made 1 appearance, hitting a pinch-hit 2-run double against the Toronto Blue Jays on August 20th.
