Found March 15, 2013 on Fox Sports Southwest:
The Texas Rangers still may have the best second baseman in the American League West but the competition is closing on Ian Kinsler. The West did add an All-Star at second base this year with the addition of Houston's Jose Altuve. The other West teams aren't as fortunate as Dustin Ackley struggled to hit for average in Seattle and the job in Oakland is wide open after Jemile Weeks held the spot last year. Here's a breakdown of second base in the West with the rankings. 1. Texas Ian Kinsler is as healthy this spring as he's been since 2009. That was also the last full season that Kinsler didn't have problems with his right ankle. The ankle bothered him enough last year that he considered having surgery on it at the All-Star break. Fortunately for him, it got better in the second half of the season and he's had no problems with ...

Kinsler helps Rangers beat A's

PHOENIX (AP) -- Randy Wells hopes that maybe, just maybe, this will be the year that everything falls into place. Injury and inconsistency have plagued the 30-year-old right-hander during his career, which up until 2013 primarily had been with the Chicago Cubs. Now with the Texas Rangers, he is making a bid for the No. 5 spot in their rotation. On Thursday, he had the team'...

Texas says in a release Saturday that McClellan should need three to four weeks of recovery before beginning a throwing program. Opening day is March 31. McClellan, who had spent...

Texas Rangers 2013 Top 21 Prospects List

The Texas Rangers system is filthy.  It’s especially deep with position players, notably right up the middle.  I felt bad with some of the rankings of players in the teens, who if in many other... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Beltre still the best when it comes to West 3B

Adrian Beltre isn't just the best third baseman in the American League West. If you ask Texas manager Ron Washington, he's the best in the game. He doesn't have much competition in the West either, as every other team has some deficiencies at the hot corner. Here's a breakdown of third base in the West and the team rankings. Texas As good as Josh Hamilton was...

30-1 MLB countdown: #15 Rangers

As we move down to the top half of the 30-1 MLB countdown preview page, lets get one thing straight. While there could be some teams from 16-20 that can make legitimate pushes for a wild card spot, most of the first half of teams probably will not make a serious run. Of course this is my opinion, and I have been wrong before. But all teams from this point forward are good teams,...

The Texas Rangers are scouting New York Yankees right-handed reliever Joba Chamberlain, according to George A. King III of The New York Post. The Rangers sent Don Welke, a special assistant to general manager Jon Daniels, to a Yankees’ spring training contest Monday specifically to watch Chamberlain throw. King notes that the Rangers get the sense that the Yankees ...

Dodgers' Kershaw, Rangers' Harrison sharp

Clayton Kershaw gave his manager a scare. Kershaw was hit in the left Achilles tendon by a hard hit ball off David Murphy's bat in the fourth inning of the Los Angeles Dodgers' 4-0 loss to a Texas Rangers split squad on Saturday. ''I might be a little sore tomorrow, but it's fine,'' he said. ''It's one of those things that will get worse...

Profar creating delightful dilemma

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- So, does Jurickson Profar look ready for the major leagues? Ian Kinsler smiled. "I could be honest with you, and it would probably make headlines," Kinsler said. "That's not really something I'm looking for, to make headlines. He's obviously a very talented player. He's done a lot of good things in camp. And he's worked hard...
