Per the official Braves twitter account, Kris Medlen has a partial tear of the Ulnar Collateral Ligament in his right elbow. While this would appear to be good news, the Braves say that they will determine a plan of action of the course of the next two weeks.

In the short term Medlen has been placed on the DL and Cristhian Martinez has been recalled from Gwinnett. Martinez has a 4-1 record with a 3.28 ERA at Gwinnett.

The Braves Twitter account also announced that Mike Minor will indeed make his Major League Debut on Monday night in Houston against the Astros. Kenshin Kawakami will be sent to Triple A Gwinnett to get back in starting shape and hopes to rejoin the rotation at some point.

I think this is the best case scenario all the way around. Hopefully Medlen doesn’t require surgery, Kawakami is going to the minors and Mike Minor is going to get a shot. At the very least, the Braves are no longer playing with a 24 man roster.
