MINNEAPOLIS Free agent outfielder Jason Kubel is heading to the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. Heyman reported Monday that Kubel, who spent his entire seven-year career with the Minnesota Twins, received a two-year, 15 million deal from the Diamondbacks with an option for a third year. Kubel, 29, was drafted by the Twins in 2000 and broke into the majors with Minnesota in 2004. He had a career year in 2009, when he hit 28 home runs, drove in 103 runs and batted .300. The left-handed hitting Kubel hit 20 or more homers three times in seven years with the Twins. But he missed a good amount of games in 2011 with a foot injury, playing in 99 total games and hitting 12 homers. Kubel's exit from Minnesota became likely when the Twins signed free agent outfielder Josh Willingham to a three-year, 21 million contract earlier this month. Outfielder Michael Cuddyer, who spent his 11-year career with Minnesota, signed with the Colorado Rockies. Now, Kubel is the latest Twins free agent to head elsewhere after Minnesota's 99-loss season.
