Sliding Into Home:
From Andrew Marchand
Hiroki Kuroda has never played in Yankee Stadium. So when he throws the first home pitch for the Yankees a little after 1 p.m. on Friday, he will have more nerves than anything else.
"Rather than being excited, I'm more worried about how I'm going to perform," Kuroda said through his interpreter.
"Since I've never pitched at Yankee Stadium, I'm a little bit pre-occupied," Kuroda said. "I just have to do my best."
Kuroda added that he's "honored" to be getting the ball in the home opener.
Is it just me or do you also hate hearing Yankees admit they're worried?
BEST OF MAXIM

The young fan went home happy that night as the Yankees won the game 5-4. However, the game went 12 innings, so hopefully the game didn't end too far past his bedtime.
Buffalo, NY – It was a record breaking day for the Bisons in their home opener as they dominated the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees 12-3 in front of an announced 10,905 fans at Coca-Cola Field.
The 12 runs broke the Bisons previous record for runs in a home opener, a 10 run outing in a win over Pawtucket in 2003.
While the bulk of the runs came in the fourth inning, the Buffalo...

OPENING DAY WAS A GEM….
Welcome home Yankees!!
It was another Opening Day for the books at Yankee Stadium, as fans got to welcome the players, say goodbye to a legend and watch the Bombers beat the Angels 5-0.
After a terrible first start against the Rays, pitcher Hiroki Kurodatook to the hill and he was brilliant.
Kuroda didn’t allow a run to score, pitching shutout ball into...
I know that the season is just beginning, and that players are just beginning to get the feel for the game again, but what I saw from David Robertson yesterday definitely blew my mind.
Even though he only pitched one inning and struck only one hitter and walked one, I could see how every hitter looked helpless when facing him. His pitch location was perfect and his fastball was...
This afternoon at Yankee Stadium, the New York Yankees host the Los Angeles Angels in their 2012 home opener. In order to improve offensive production, manager Joe Girardi has swapped Alex Rodriguez and Robinson Cano in the lineup, inserting Cano into the cleanup spot and moving Rodriguez to the 3-hole. Both Rodriguez and Cano are without a home run or RBI through six games this...
In the movie Major League, Ricky Vaughn (played by none other than Charlie Sheen), came out to the song Wild Thing by The Troggs. That was partly due to his personality, but also because Ricky had a little trouble throwing strikes. in Major League Baseball, Mitch Williams took that role, and adopted the same song for similar reasons.
After last night’s poor performance...
Back to the card draft bank-rolled purchases. Cheap high-end is always a welcome addition to my various collections, and this Dual Reflections Autograph from 2007 Upper Deck Exquisite certainly fits that bill.Numbered 07/40, I don't remember having this card available to me for a reasonable price and in an auction format previously. The price remained well under what I would...
The New York Yankees (2-3) beat the Baltimore Orioles (3-2) 5-4 in 12 innings, tonight at Camdem Yards.
Freddy Garcia made his first start of the season and it was tough to watch. He went 4.2 innings, allowed 4 hits, 4 runs (1 HR), walked 3 and struck out 3 batters for 98 pitches.
The Bullpen pitched scoreless 7.1 innings pitched, allowed 2 hits, walked 2 and struck...
