The St. Louis Cardinals needed a solid outing from starter Kyle Lohse on Saturday night. With Jaime Garcia on the disabled list and a rookie starting on Sunday afternoon, Lohse needed to go deep into the game in order to preserve the bullpen for the unexpected.
Fortunately for the Cardinals, Lohse more than delivered.
Lohse tossed 7.2 innings of shutout baseball, allowing just three hits while walking just two, leading the Cardinals to a 2-0 victory over the Cleveland Indians.
Lohse was an efficient machine on Saturday evening, throwing 66 of his 105 pitches for strikes while holding the Indians at bay.
Lohse exited the game after an Asdrubal Cabrera single in the eighth inning with two outs. Marc Rzepcynski relieved and threw just one pitch as Yadier Molina, who was hitting third in the Cardinals lineup for the first time in his career...
