Kyle Lohse maintained all spring that he would sign with a team before the start of the season. On Monday he agreed to a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. Adam McCalvy of MLB.com notes that the contract is for multiple years.
Lohse, 34, had struggled to gain contract offers because signing him would cost a team their first round pick in the 2013 draft. With the signing the BrewersMilwaukee will lose the 17th overall pick.
Last season Lohse pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals making 33 starts. During his five year stint with the Cardinals Lohse won 55 games and compiled a 3.90 ERA along with a 1.28 WHIP.
Lohse is not exactly the type of pitcher a team can use to anchor their rotation but he will be a reliable arm.
