On Tuesday night, following the Los Angeles Angels’ 15-4 victory over the Texas Rangers, the Halos put an end to the Brandon Wood era in Anaheim, designating him for assignment.
The Angels will now have 10 days to either trade, release or place Wood on waivers.

Wood, a first round pick by the Angels (23rd overall) in the 2003 June Amateur Draft, was the highest rated prospect in the Angels’ organization for a number of years. However, after winning the starting third base job in spring training of last season, Wood proved unable to handle major league pitching, hitting just .146 with 71 strikeouts in 226 at-bats.
This season, Wood was just 2-14 in limited playing time, and with shortstop Erick Aybar set to be activated...
