Los Angeles Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick is now in his sixth season in the majors, all with the Angels, and while everyone knew he could hit, Kendrick is now learning to excel at other aspects of the game as well. In the first six games of the season, Kendrick is hitting .417 with three home runs and seven runs scored. However, one striking statistic that had previously been missing from Kendrick’s resume was the number of walks. Kendrick has walked five times thus far, a complete reversal from past years, when his highest full season total was 28. While it certainly appears to be a natural part of the maturation process for a ballplayer, Kendrick stops short of actually saying that.
