The New York Yankees have tried to put forward the notion that Alex Rodriguez will be their third basemen in 2013 but rumors to the contrary keep popping up. Rodriguez has publicly stated his intention to play for the Yankees.
While both parties are saying all the right things you would believe if there was one team that had any interest in Rodriguez they would Brian Cashman a ring. Not a single team has called the Yankees general manager according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Zero. To be exact that is an 0-for-29, which somehow is even worse then Rodriguez’s postseason batting line.
There are plenty of stumbling blocks to overcome if there was a team interested in Rodriguez. The 37-year-old is owed $114 million over the next five seasons and has not played in more then 138 games since 2007. Rodriguez also is said to be unwilling to waive his full no-trade clause.
