The Outside Corner:
Texas Rangers DH Lance Berkman isn't too thrilled about the Rangers' series with the Cubs in Chicago this week. In fact, Berkman not only hates Wrigley, but he hates Chicago as a whole, too. “If they’re looking for a guy to push the button when they blow the place up, I’ll do it,” he said. [...] "Chicago’s one of the worst places in baseball … really for anything," he said. Well, isn't that just lovely? Berkman has spent nearly his entire career playing for teams in Texas, aside from a 37 game stint with the Yankees in 2010, an MVP caliber 2011 with the Cardinals, and an injury-plagued 2012, also with St Louis. The 355 plate appearances Berkman has logged at Wrigley are his fourth most in any stadium behind Minute Maid Park, new Busch Stadium, and Miller Park. and he's struggled terribly there, with just a .215/.355/.377 statline. That .732 OPS is Berkman's lowest in any park where he's played more than 16 games. Ironically, he's raked in si...

The Rangers begin a series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Tuesday and DH Lance Berkman didn't mince words when providing his thoughts on the stadium.
Lance Berkman doesn't like to bite his tongue and many enjoy that aspect of the opinionated Texas Rangers designated hitter. However, many can easily become annoyed by Berkman's words.
After reading Berkman's comments from Monday, it's unlikely that he's going to win over any Chicago Cubs fans.

Rangers veteran Lance Berkman went on a bizarre rant against nearly every baseball purist’s version of baseball heaven–Wrigley Field.
What exactly is Berkman’s beef with the stadium is a bit of a mystery, but it’s clear he’s got something against the place. As reported by Yahoo Sports when reporters asked the long time former Astro what it meant to play in Wrigley...
Wrigley Field may be one of the most historic ballparks in North America, but Texas Rangers designated hitter Lance Berkman hardly cares for the nostalgia. The Rangers are beginning a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, and Berkman has made it clear that he is not looking forward to the visit.

Generally speaking, I'm of the notion that the loss of a starting pitcher for anything less than a couple months does not have that large an impact on a team. However, if that starting pitcher is the missing piece that can turn a rotation from being top-five in the league to number one overall, things change. Neftali Feliz has been on the disabled list since the start of...
Another day has come and gone and yet fans of both the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals are still talking about the possibility of trading Jurickson Profar for Oscar Taveras. This rumor first came to light via the internet a few days ago and has yet to be extinguished by either team. As Rangers fans collectively hold their breath, hoping that they do not decide to trade...
The Texas Rangers are optimistic that they’ll be able to

Ghiroli notes that the O’s and Rangers have held ongoing

CHICAGO (AP) -- Derek Holland pitched seven shutout innings, Adrian Beltre hit a two-run home run, and Craig Gentry made a diving catch in the ninth to end the game and preserve the Texas Rangers' 4-2 win over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night at a cold Wrigley Field.
Holland (1-1) at one point retired nine straight against the Cubs, who have lost three straight games. The Rangers...

When the St. Louis Cardinals waged their annual war with injuries last season as Allen Craig and Lance Berkman went on the disabled list within weeks of each other in May, the Cardinals needed a replacement, and their first choice was minor leaguer Matt Adams.
Adams looked the part. He’s 6-foot-3-inches tall, weighs 260 pounds and hit 82 homeruns in his four years in the minor...
