Matthew Cerrone's Mets Blog:
Last night, Chris Capuano threw five innings and allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks, while striking out four.
Capuano threw 99 pitches in the follow up to his 122 pitch, complete game shut out last Friday night.
After the game, Capuano discussed his performance with reporters and basically said:
He warmed up fine in the bullpen, but once he took the mound in the first, he didn’t have a feel for his pitches.
He was happy to battle back after two tough innings and get through five.
Brian Erni: Once he got past the rocky start, Capuano turned in a gutty performance. Coming off his shut out, I was glad to see the team give Chris an extra days rest, and in the first two innings, it seemed as if that might not have been enough. Capuano labored through 27 pitches in the first and 29 in the second, and all signs seemed to indicate it would be a long night for the bullpen. But Capuano recovered and got through the third, fourth and fifth unscathed to give the Mets offense...
