The Miami Marlins came out on top in Friday evening’s game against the Washington Nationals with a 3-0 final.   The losing pitcher was phenom Stephen Strasburg while the winner was Wade LeBlanc who was filling in for Anibal Sanchez.  LeBlanc who is expected to serve as a middle reliever in the bullpen was dazzling on the mound and went deeper than any Marlins’ starter this Spring by lasting four innings. LeBlanc who acquired this past off-season from the San Diego Padres in exchange for John Baker struck out five and walked none while allowing one hit.    Despite the fact, he will serve a bullpen role for Miami, the left-hander did see some time as a starter in 2011 and is accustomed to pitching multiple innings.  J.D. Martin, Edward Mujica, Steve Cishek, Beau Jones and Sandy Rosario rounded out the pitching in the game.   Combined, Marlins pitchers held the Nationals’ offense to only four hits.   Rosario was credited with a save after working a perfect ninth. The starting lineup wa...

From Left Field: Marlins Home Run Celebration Is Very Distracting

There’s been a lot of talk about the Miami Marlins all offseason, so I’ll keep the trend going. Let me start off by saying, I downright love the “Home Run Apple.” Whether it’s the old one outside Citi Field or the new one inside the stadium, the Home Run Apple is a Mets and baseball icon. In addition to bringing multiple high-profile free agents including Jose Reyes, the...

Stephen Strasburg didn't hit 103 on the gun last night?
