Tyson Ross was drafted out of the University of California, Berkeley by the Oakland Athletics in the 2nd round of the 2008 amateur draft. The former Golden Bear bounced around various levels of the A's farm system before making his big league debut on April 7, 2010 versus Seattle. From 2010-2012, the young hurler mostly struggled through 53 appearances (21 starts) for Oakland compiling a 6-18 record with a 5.33 ERA and 1.60 WHIP. The now 26 year old was sent to San Diego as part of a four player trade on November 16, 2012. The move to the more desirable climate of southern California has been a favorable one for the Bay Area native. In 25 games (6 starts) for the Padres this season, Ross is sporting a 2.91 ERA and 1.22 WHIP while holding opponents to a .223 batting average. The Pads started the 2013 season with their new acquisition as a member of the rotation. However, that idea was sidelined as was Ross himself on April 20 after just three starts. Upon his May 11 return, the righty was placed in a long relief role that would last through the all-star break. Over this stretch, he posted a solid 3.48 ERA while racking up 31 innings over 19 outings. With the work out of the bullpen seemingly gaining manager Bud Black's trust, Ross was given another shot as a starter heading into the second half. That trust has not been misplaced.Armed with a solid fastball and 85+ MPH slider which he uses over 30% of the time, Ross has been outstanding over three starts since his return to the rotation. Consecutive dominant performances against the Brewers, Diamondbacks and Yankees should have the role secured for the rest of the year. He has gone 2-1 with a 1.35 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and 9.9 K/9 during this run. Considering that he works approximately half of his games in ParkFactor.com's 4th most pitcher friendly environment while putting up a career high K/9 and near 51% ground ball rate, Tyson Ross should be on every fantasy manager's radar. As word gets out, his ownership rate will rapidly increase. Make your move now as time is of the essence.Tentative Upcoming Schedule Saturday, August 10 @ Cincinnati RedsThursday, August 15 vs. New York MetsTuesday, August 20 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
