Now, that’s more like it.  What I saw of tonight’s game looked a lot more like the team I enjoy watching.  I won’t say “know and love” because I love my Rangers unconditionally … even when they’re really hard to like.  But right  now, they’re back to being likeable. They took two of three from the Giants over the weekend, and they came out swinging against the Diamondbacks tonight. Everyone in the lineup had a hit.  And they scored nine runs on 16 hits.  That’s the most runs they’ve scored since May 27 when they put 12 on the board.  To say they’ve been in a scoring drought would be an understatement.   I got home just after the two-out two-run home run by David Murphy.  That put the Rangers up 3-0.  And then they just couldn’t stop scoring after that.  You’re welcome. I suppose Colby Lewis should get some credit too. He pitched a complete game, giving up just one run on four hits while striking out seven.  And he only needed 105 pitches.  Oustanding. Rangers agree with top five picks

ARLINGTON, Texas The Texas Rangers have agreed to terms with their top five picks in this year's first year player draft. Texas has a press conference at 5 p.m. with all five of the players. Outfielder Lewis Brinson, the 29th overall pick, was the team's first selection. The Rangers also agreed to terms with their two compensatory picks third baseman Joey Gallo and right...

Rangers RHP Ogando out 4-6 weeks with groin strain

Texas Rangers right-hander Alexi Ogando is expected to miss four to six weeks with a strained right groin. The Rangers placed Ogando on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, two days after he was hurt while running to first base on a bunt single at San Francisco. Ogando had thrown three perfect innings in his first start of the season in place of lefty Derek Holland, who is on the DL...

Texas Rangers fan makes incredible one-handed catch of Josh Hamilton's flying bat (Video)

During yesterday's Texas Rangers/Arizona Diamondbacks affair, Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton lost his bat in the first inning while attempting to swing a pitch from Arizona's Ian Kennedy. The bat would reach that stands and one fan made incredible one-handed snag to pull it in: Your browser does not support iframes.

Matt Harrison is vastly underrated

Unlike a former Texas Rangers pitcher who was voted by players to be the most overrated pitcher in baseball, Matt Harrison might be the most underrated. And that includes his own team. Before the season started, he was not even a lock for the rotation after posting a 4.2 fWAR season at 14-9 a season ago. Why doesn't Harrison inspire respect for his pitching? Frankly, it is baffling...

Kennedy struggles as D-backs fall in Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Colby Lewis retired the first 16 batters and finished with a four-hitter Tuesday night, leading the Texas Rangers over the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-1. Lewis (5-5) struck out seven and walked one as Texas ended Arizona's five-game winning streak. Lewis did not permit a runner until Aaron Hill hit a one-out single to left field on an 0-2 pitch in the sixth...

Ogando DL verdict could come Tuesday

Alexi Ogando was perfect on the mound but oh so imperfect on the bases Sunday. So Monday, he had an MRI on his strained right groin, and Texas Rangers fans await the results and a decision about the disabled list. A pitcher who's not used to running bases got hurt running bases, and he was pulled after three perfect innings in Texas' 5-0 win over the Giants in San Francisco...

D-backs try to even up series with Rangers

A return to Arlington helped the Texas Rangers find their hitting stroke. The Arizona Diamondbacks may be more concerned about the AL West leaders giving the ball to Matt Harrison on Wednesday night. The left-hander will try to win a career-best fifth consecutive start and lead Texas to a seventh straight home victory over Arizona. After hitting .251 and averaging 3.1 runs on...

Rangers' Ogando to miss 4-6 weeks

Rangers right-handed pitcher Alexi Ogando is likely to miss 4-6 weeks with a strained right groin. Ogando, 28, joined Derek Holland and Pedro Feliz on the disabled list Monday after an MRI showed a muscle tear in his right groin. Ogando was making his first start of the season after pitching out of the bullpen and felt pain in his right groin beating out a bunt single in the...

Harrison, Adams and Nathan hold Diamondbacks scoreless

Remember what I said about the rotation being a mess last night?  Yeah, well, apparently Matt Harrison took offense to that and decided to remind us all that he is not a mess. Tonight, Harrison was outstanding. That six-pitch first inning was just a taste of what we’d see the rest of the game.  He pitched 7.1 innings of six-hit, no-run baseball.  And he didn’t want to stop...

D-backs blanked by Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Craig Gentry hit a two-out RBI single in the eighth inning and Matt Harrison combined with two relievers on a six-hitter as the Texas Rangers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 1-0 on Wednesday night. Mike Napoli drew a leadoff walk in the eighth off rookie left-hander Wade Miley (7-3) before a sacrifice bunt by Yorvit Torrealba. After pinch-hitter Nelson Cruz...

D-backs ready for Rangers in Texas

The Arizona Diamondbacks own baseball's best interleague record, but they know that is about to get a severe test. The Diamondbacks will try to extend their season-best win streak to six Tuesday night when they open a six-game trip against AL West contenders with the first of three against the Texas Rangers. Arizona (30-30) is 5-1 against AL opponents as it gets ready to face...

Rangers 1, Diamondbacks 0

Norris, Lewis gambles this week

Start 'Em Josh Beckett (@MIA, @CHC Since his infamous implosion against the Indians on May 10 (following a missed start due to, ahem, "golfgate"), Beckett has been quietly effective, holding opponents to a .227 average and flaunting a 2.21 ERA in his last five starts. Better yet, in four of these five outings, Beckett has surrendered just two runs or less. The Marlins...
