It was dog night at the ballpark, and I’m not sure the canine spectators or their human counterparts enjoyed tonight’s game. I know I didn’t. But at least I was at home, so I could get up and go do something else.
Colby Lewis looked terrible. It was almost a repeat of last week’s start in Baltimore … but without as many home runs … and more throwing errors. The Royals might not have taken Colby deep five times, but they did score six runs on seven hits in the first three innings. Somehow Lewis made it through 5.2 innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits. Only two of those runs were earned, but all of them should have been since both errors were on him. He made horrible throws to first while keeping a runner close. He’d have been better to just pitch. Although, clearly that wasn’t working out too well for him either. Oh, and he also hit a batter. It was not a good night for the Colbra.
