Found February 02, 2012 on Mets Fever: Yardbarker Blogger Network
I know for some this is a repetitive topic, but let's face there is absolutely nothing to talk about in regard to the Mets. It's amazing how little they done and how long it's been, the last signing was Ronny Cedano on January 12th. They haven't even signed anyone to a minor league deal with an invitee to camp, Tuiasosopo will go straight to minor league camp. Since there is nothing to talk about it seems like we keep looking at this elusive LHB market, don't get me wrong I'm not just regurgitating the same story to keep a blog going, I love talking Mets and if this is all there giving me then so be it. Going off the premise, Matt at Metsblog posted this morning that the Mets are willing to spend 1M on a left handed bat. Watching several players who would fit nicely in that position sign with other teams for around that price I'm left to believe the Mets aren't a very appealing choice right now. I think the position might be filled by someone who t...

Terry Collins on hot seat as year two is pivotal for Mets managers

If fans picked the team’s manager, it is highly unlikely that Terry Collins would have gotten the job last season. But if you asked those same fans a year later what they thought of Collins, the vast majority would give him a favorable job rating. Collins did an excellent job of keeping his team together throughout the season, despite the numerous obstacles he faced. Collins...

MMO Exclusive Interview: Mets Shortstop Prospect – Phillip Evans

I was able to get in a quick Q&A with NY Mets shortstop prospect Phillip Evans the other day, just weeks before he has to get ready to head for Port St. Lucie for the start of Spring Training. The Mets got a steal when they plucked Evans in the 15th round of last years draft. Other teams had been scared off due to a commitment by Evans to attend San Diego State, but just hours...

Mets Card of the Week: 1987 Bob Ojeda

1987 SPORTFLICS BOB OJEDA These first-wave Sportflics cards deserve a cult of their own. Now, the less said about the mid ’90′s Second Coming of the brand, the better. Those sets were more Stone Roses Second Coming than the Jesus kind… But these mid ’80s cards were out there kicking against the pricks. The hobby back then was a stodgy place, and the cigar...

Jon Stewart takes jab at Mets during Moneyball interview

We’re big Jon Stewart fans here at The Legend. Actually, let me not speak for the rest of the editorial staff. I am a big Jon Stewart fan. And Stewart  shares as least one thing with Cecilio’s Scribe. He’s a fan of the New York Mets. So, we’re both sorry bastards in that regard. Fortunately for Stewart, he has a national platform to playfully and brilliantly...

How Optimistic (or Pessimistic) Should New York Mets Fans Be Heading Into 2012?

Over at Metsblog.com there have been a couple of discussions about what is expected of the New York Mets this season.  On the pessimistic side, a scout explained why he doesn’t see the New York Mets cracking 70 wins this season.  On the optimistic side, a fan asks if the same squad can manage 85 wins if a few things break right.  I am definitely closer to the pessimistic...

My buddy Mack Ade from Mack’s Mets shot an arrow into the air, and this is what happened… Mack – I have designated you as one of the “Lords of Baseball”. Well, at least you’re one of mine. The question… what two teams will play in the 2012 World Series? Jason Parks, Baseball Prospectus – Boston Red Sox vs. San Francisco Giants Joe D...

Daniel Murphy: Spark plug

Well it’s suddenly February and that big football game is only a few days away. And you know what my favorite part of the Super Bowl is? No, the thought of seeing Tom Brady miserable, or seeing what kind of weird/creepy/funny commercial ETrade has in store for us. No, it’s more of the fact that as soon as the game is over, it’s baseball time. Pitchers and catchers are due...
