I guess the Phillies were in the mood for a little bit of Fall cleaning. The best team in franchise history continues to break its own records, this time by becoming a franchise record 43 games over .500 after sweeping the National League East rival Braves in a 3 game series at Citizens Bank Park. Roy Oswalt had a no-hitter through 5 innings of solid work, and all but killed the debate that Vance Worley should be the team’s 4th starter in the post season. Oswalt finished with a line of 7 IP, 2 earned runs, and 7 strikeouts, but the most important thing to look for in Oswalt’s recovery in September is the velocity of his fastball. According to mlb.com, Oswalt through 45 fastballs last night, averaging 92.2 mph on the pitch. He was still reaching 93 on the gun even when he had over 100 pitches, and reached 94 mph a few times throughout the game. Ryan Madson got the win by pitching a scoreless 9th, but the true heroes were the Phillies bats, who battled back and defeated the Brave...
