Franklin Morales should get used to starting, because it appears increasingly unlikely he'll be doing anything else this season.

With the Boston Red Sox in desperate need of consistency from their starting pitchers, Morales once again showed he's ready to take the job in Sunday's 6-4 victory over the Twins. Making his first start since July 13, Morales limited the Twins to one run on three hits and three walks over six innings.

"I'd like to talk about him a lot," said manager Bobby Valentine. "He pitched six great innings. When you need some zeroes, you need some length. I was really impressed with the way he and Salty used all those pitches. A lot of changeup strikes. He threw a lot of curveballs that just missed, but they were effective and his fastball was there for all six innings. That's very impressive."

Morales owns a 2.70 ERA in his last 14 outings since June 3, with 51 strikeouts in 46 2/3 innings. He has limited opponents to no more than one run in three of his six starts, allowing three hits or fewer in all three.

With sinkerballer Aaron Cook struggling and right-hander Josh Beckett no guarantee to stay healthy after dealing with an assortment of injuries, it appears unlikely Morales will head back to the bullpen anytime soon.

Valentine is already on record that the team will not employ a six-man rotation, so however things shake out, it's safe to say Morales will be one of his five moving forward.

"That's a good situation for me," Morales said. "I need to throw my pitches. I feel great concentration. I know the team needed to win. I tried to do what I need to do, take the hitter out and do my things."
