The Angels continue to roll! Their rotation survived the thin air of Colorado and their bullpen came through when needed in L.A. as the Halos wrapped up a 6-game road trip with a 5-1 record. The Angels will now return home and welcome to town the defending National League West Division champs, the Arizona Diamondbacks for a 3-game series that begins Friday night at the "A".
It will be a homecoming of sorts for D-Backs pitcher Joe Saunders who was the Angels 1st round pick in the 2002 draft (12th pick overall) and who was apart of the Angels' organization from 2002 to 2010. Saunders was traded by the Halos to Arizona in 2010 as part of a package for "ace" pitcher Dan Haren. Saunders will take the mound Saturday night to face his former club for the first time.
From a pitching standpoint, this series will be very interesting to watch. In addition to Saunders and Haren facing their respectiv...
BEST OF MAXIM
Arizona's Joe Saunders hopes his first start against his former team goes a bit better than Los Angeles Angels right-hander Dan Haren's did in the series opener.
Saunders looks to help the surging Diamondbacks move over .500 for the first time in six weeks Saturday night in his return to Angel Stadium.
In their first trip to Anaheim since 2001, the Diamondbacks (32-32)...
Ervin Santana tossed a one-hit gem against the visiting Diamondbacks on Saturday night, while carrying a perfect game deep into the seventh inning.
To say that the performance is a surprise to fantasy owners would be an understatement, as Santana entered the outing with a 3-7 record to go along with a bloated 5.74 ERA. Santana gave up seven earned runs on eight hits in his previous...
ANAHEIM, Calif. The pitcher and the manager agreed on two salient points Friday night.
The pitcher felt good, and the pitcher made one critical mistake.
Sometimes that's all it takes. Dan Haren knows that as well as anyone.
The Angels right-hander threw a pretty good game against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the opener of a three-game series at Angel Stadium. The one pitch...

Joe Saunders has always been the type of player that tends to get over looked. The 31-year old lefty has never won 20 games in a season, never struck out 200 batters and never pitched in the World Series. There is nothing about Joe Saunders that is eye popping, nothing that would draw your attention to him more then any other starter in...
I got four words for you, probably the same four words that have been running through your mind most of this season.
Can anyone really be surprised at what's going on with Ervin Santana and his absolutely disastrous year so far? Early in the season this kind of pitching from him was tolerable, as funny as that is to say about a pitcher who gave...
ANAHEIM, Calif. Ervin Santana was not perfect Saturday, but he was close enough to leave the Diamondbacks perfectly miserable.
Justin Upton had the D-backs only hit, a solid single to center field with two outs in the seventh inning, and the D-backs suffered a 2-0 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on what has become a feast-or-famine road trip to the land of the designated hitter...
The Diamondbacks are facing the Angels in Southern California for the first time in more than a decade. A familiar face will be waiting for them on the mound.
Angels starter Dan Haren is set to face the Diamondbacks for the first time since being traded nearly two years ago in Friday night's series opener.
Arizona helped Los Angeles (34-30) a bit Thursday with an 11-3 win over...
@ Arizona Diamonbacks (32-32) @ Los Angels Angels of Anaheim (34-31)Pitching Probables: ARI -- Joe Saunders (4-4, 3.48 ERA) LAA -- Ervin Santana (3-7, 5.74 ERA)Game Info: 7:05 PM PT; TV - Fox Sports West; Radio - KLAA 830 I would have never thought an Angels-Diamondbacks series could have so much intrigue. Last night brought us the Dan Haren vs. his old team dynamic (which did...
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Ervin Santana took a perfect game into the seventh inning before finishing with a one-hitter, and Mark Trumbo hit a two-run homer in the Los Angeles Angels' 2-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday night.
Santana (4-7) bounced back from several rough outings by retiring Arizona's first 20 hitters before Justin Upton's two-out single...
If Ervin Santana felt concern about losing his job in the Angels' starting rotation, he never let on. He had things under control, he said. He was fine.
His pitching lines said otherwise. Santana struggled to control his fastball, and he was giving up runs in bunches: 20 earned runs in 20 13 innings over four starts going into Saturday night's start against the Arizona Diamondbacks...
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Trevor Cahill pitched three-hit ball into the eighth inning, Aaron Hill hit a three-run homer, and the Arizona Diamondbacks slowed the Los Angeles Angels' roll through June with a 5-0 victory Friday night.
Jason Kubel had three hits and drove in an early run for the Diamondbacks, who earned their ninth win in 12 games and got back to .500 (32-32) for...
With ace Jered Weaver possibly returning soon from the disabled list, Los Angeles Angels manager Mike Scioscia will have to figure out who's going to be the odd man out in his rotation.
After what Ervin Santana just did, it could be rookie Garrett Richards.
Richards faces the Arizona Diamondbacks for the first time Sunday when the Angels try to win their sixth consecutive interleague...
