Pitching was the theme for the Mets organization Thursday. After Oliver Perez shut down the Phillies at Shea Stadium, top Mets prospect Jon Niese followed with a brilliant performance of his own at AA-Binghamton. The Mets top left-handed prospect pitched a complete game, seven-inning shutout in the first game of the B-Mets doubleheader against Akron. Niese (6-7) allowed six hits and a walk, recording his second shutout of the season.
