Last month, we brought you the news of former Indians, Red Sox, and Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez signing with the EDA Rhinos in Taiwan. Well, Ramirez made his debut with the Rhinos on Wednesday night, and Busted Coverage broke down the bizarre scenario that unfolded. First off, as you can tell in the above picture, fans were clearly excited to see Ramirez. The problem is that Ramirez isn't the player pictured in the sign...that's Reds starter Johnny Cueto, who is 14 years younger than Ramirez. But they're both black guys with dreads, so there *must* be some sort of similarity there! But things were just getting started in Taiwan. The ball from Ramirez's first hit, a second inning single, was saved by the team. That's something that usually happens in America for the first hit of a player's career, or for some sort of milestone hit...but man, the first hit in Taiwan by a 40-year old former American superstar? The fans also made signs with dreadlocks on them (and as you can tell in the video above, Ramirez's dreadlocks are venturing into "out of control" territory). Asian baseball is fantastic. Never change. [Busted Coverage] [follow]
