The Dodgers have released Marcus Thames, according to Dylan Hernandez announced via Twitter. Los Angeles designated the outfielder for assignment a week ago to create roster space for newly acquired Juan Rivera.Thames hit an embarrassing .197/.243/.333 in 70 plate appearances this year. Originally brought in by the Dodgers for his ability to handle left-handed pitching boasting .824 career OPS, however, Thames struggled mightily against southpaws, posting just a .167/.231/.306 line. In his 10 year major league career Thames held a solid.246/.309/.485 line with 115 homers.Thames, 34, is certainly not at the end of the road. More than likely Thames will catch on with a contender needing a specialty bat off the bench. Sometimes things just don't work out like you hope, this is certainly the case for both parties here. Thankfully he's not our problem anymore, another one bites the dust. Who's next?
