The Mariners need to add depth at catcher
The Mariners traded catcher and fan favorite John Jaso to Oakland in a three team trade to receive 1B/OF Michael Morse.
This is a trade the Mariners needed to make, in spite of his popularity; Jaso was a valuable pinch hitter/platoon player.
If Michael Morse can return to 2011 form, then Seattle received an every day 1B/OF that will add...
It was reported that the Seattle Mariners have added another first baseman/DH by acquiring Mike Morse from the Washington Nationals for catcher John Jaso.
There was also something else about it being a three-way trade, but no one seems to care about that.
Who cares about the Athletics? After all, they only won the division last year. It’s not like we sent our best everyday...
The Seattle Mariners have one of the deepest farm systems in all of baseball. It was very strong going into the 2012 season when they added Mike Zunino, Edwin Diaz, and Tyler Pike through the draft....

The Seattle Mariners offense has been awful the last few years. Historically awful, in fact. Over the last decade, the two lowest scoring teams have been the 2010 Mariners (513 runs) and the 2011 Mariners (556 runs). At 619 runs, the 2012 Mariners moved all the way up to just 17th worst in the last 10 years. After three seasons of offensive ineptitude, it’s not a big surprise...
Mike Morse was likely the final major offensive addition of this off-season for the Seattle Mariners, who had offense as their first, second and third priorities heading into 2013. With that all checked off and money still not an issue, where will the club turn next to fill out their roster? SeattleClubhouse runs down some possibilities.
The Seattle Mariners have a long history of dipping back into their past -- pitchers Jeff Nelson and Norm Charlton as well as outfielders Ken Griffey Jr. and Raul Ibanez have all had two or more turns in Seattle. The same is now true for Mike Morse, who recently came to the Mariners as part of a three-team trade with the Washington Nationals and the Oakland A's. The difference...
Throughout the annuls of history, we, as a human species have learned that it's not easy being green. While it's not easy being green, it is also not easy hitting at Safeco. Looking through the ballpark values, I can surmise that if I jumped off the roof of Safeco, I would have a hard time hitting the ground. It's well documented, the struggles of high-ceiling prospects...
The Mariners continued to try and address their punchless offense on Wednesday by reacquiring Mike Morse from the National in a 3-way trade. But did they actually make the team worse in the process as many are claiming?
