Seattle Mariners outfielder Franklin Gutierrez saw his season come to an end after suffering a severe oblique sprain. Gutierrez immediately clutched at his side after swinging at a pitch in Sunday's 8-5 loss to the Oakland Athletics. The 28-year-old Gutierrez saw his season begin in mysterious fashion, as he was sidelined with a stomach ailment. Gutierrez batted .224 with one homer and 19 RBIs in 92 games this season. By comparison, he hit .245 with 12 homers and 69 RBIs in 2010.
