During the long baseball season and the dog days of summer, Mark Buehrle may be missing one of his canine companions.
Buehrle is a huge dog lover who’s done charity work around animals and pet adoption, said some harsh things about Michael Vick and is also the owner of a Staffordshire terrier named Slater. When Buehrle first signed with the Miami Marlins last offseason, he and his wife had to settle in nearby Broward County because of a ban on pit bulls within Miami-Dade County.
Well, Buehrle’s surely going to have a bone to pick with Ontario, Canada’s restrictive dog laws. Within the entire province pit bulls are banned, and it’s a very long commute to Toronto from Quebec, the closest adjacent province. It’s unclear how Buehrle will handle the matter, but last time he petitioned the county to overturn the ban, albeit unsuccessfully.
When Buehrle signed with Miami he said he wouldn’t have done so if he couldn’t have found a suitable residence for Slater, so he’s surely going to be m...
BEST OF MAXIM
There is nothing wrong with Belgians. Belgians are the best.
Where are the locked out NHLers playing? HINT: Not the NHL.
Mark Buehrle is on the way to Toronto. Can’t bring his dogs, though.
The word “stunning” is used quite frequently in international soccer.
Nothing today. Makes you miss baseball, doesn’t it?
The Miami Marlins made a huge offseason splash heading into the 2012 season, signing players Jose Reyes, Heath Bell and Mark Buehrle.
After a depressing season that didn’t provide the results the organization, players and fans were hoping for, the Marlins have already made the biggest news of this offseason, agreeing to trade Josh Johnson, Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Emilio Bonifacio to...
The Marlins and Blue Jays agreed to a blockbuster trade earlier this week that sent Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson to Toronto. There are clear tax ramifications for everyone involved in the trade, and as an accountant who works in this field and consults with players and agents, I find it very interesting on a number levels.
However, what makes it more interesting than...
The Miami Marlins made a big splash last offseason by bringing in Ozzie Guillen as manager and signing big name free agents Jose Reyes, Heath Bell and Mark Buehrle. Needless to say all those players are now not a part of the Marlins.
In a clear move to dump salary, the Marlins traded away Reyes, Buehrle and Josh Johnson to the Toronto Blue Jays for basically nothing. For a team...
Well, so goes the "Stock Up for the New Stadium" drive in Miami.
According to multiple reports, the Miami Marlins have given up on the quest to buy an NL East title.
They are trading ace Josh Johnson, SS Jose Reyes and P Mark Buehrle along with C John Buck and utility guy Emilio Bonafacio to the Toronto Blue Jays for among others SS Yunel Escobar and a handful of...
The Miami Marlins disgrace to baseball continues. Two reports have surfaced that the Marlins are unloading even more of their talent. First, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Marlins are letting teams know that "virtually everyone" is available.
Then, Jon Morosi of Fox Sports just reported that the Marlins are close to sending the Marlins' best...
Step aside Kansas City, the Miami Marlins have taken over as the new league idiot. Major League baseball is shocked today after the Marlins traded starting pitchers Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson, shortstop Jose Reyes, utility player Emilio Bonifacio, and catcher John Buck to the Toronto Bluejays for shortstop(s) Yunel Escobar and Adeiny Hechavarria, pitcher [...]
