Mark Teixeira walks out to the strains of Twisted Sister's "I Wanna Rock" when he steps up to the plate at Yankee Stadium and it's no secret that the New York Yankees first baseman is a big fan of hair bands — even if Tex himself isn't allowed to let his locks fall past his ear lobes as long as he wears pinstripes. But on Tuesday night, the Yankees slugger let his hair down — so to speak — and made a one-night cameo during the performance of Broadway's tribute to the '80's rock scene, "The Rock of Ages." Teixeira — who played Mark, a bartender at the fictional club the Bourbon Room — wore a leather vest emblazoned with the Yankees famous "NY" on the back and performed in a number of group performances during the popular jukebox musical. "I was born in 1980 and rocking out as a young pup in Severna, Md., to some of the great '80's songs," he said.  "It was a good time." Tex joked before his debut on The Great White Way that he would be playing playing Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables."  We'll just leave that depressing role to his teammate A-Rod. Teiexeira didn't "risk the reputation of the  show" by singing any solos, but it sounds like everything went off without any happy accidents. Maybe it's time to clear the mantle and make way for a Tony Award to go along with his Gold Glove awards. It sure sounds like he had nothing but a good time.
