Closer Heath Bell didn't need any more reminders about his rough start with the Miami Marlins, but he got one, anyway, from his 13-year-old daughter.

"My daughter has called me up and asked me, 'Dad is your arm hurt?"' Bell recalled

before Tuesday's game.

Bell told his daughter he was fine, which prompted this response:

"What's wrong? You're usually really good."

Bell was good Tuesday night in the Marlins' 2-1 win in San Francisco. He pitched a

perfect ninth inning to notch his third save in six chances.

It was a nice way to start May after Bell's disastrous April -- 0-3 with three blown

saves and a 10.80 ERA.

"I think we needed it as a team to be honest with you. I didn't think it was

necessarily me. This was a team win," said Bell, who is 3-for-6 in save chances and now

has a 9.39 ERA.

Bell had notched three straight seasons with at least 40 saves, prompting the Marlins

to sign him to a three-year, $27-million contract in December.

Before Tuesday's game, manager Ozzie Guillen said he he still has faith in Bell but

agreed that he'll have to make a change soon unless things turn around for the

right-hander.

"We are a better ball club when Heath Bell is in the closer's spot," Guillen said.

"If this kid continues to struggle, then we have to do something different, something I

don't want to do. On the other hand, I have to do it. We are desperate for wins."
