Down to their final strike, Gaby Sanchez connected on a two-out, opposite-field home run to right field off Milwaukee closer John Axford. For Sanchez, the game-tying home run came on a day he was optioned to Triple-A New Orleans after the Marlins announced they had acquired Carlos Lee from the Astros for Minor Leaguers Matt Dominguez and Rob Rasmussen. Move over Gaby, El Caballo is coming to town. That is kind of a kick in the nuts though. You hit a huge home run, your team wins, and adios… The life of a baseball player.

Did Carlos Lee make a bad decision?

Carlos Lee recently vetoed a potential deal to the first place Los Angeles Dodgers. Instead, Lee wound up with the fourth place Miami Marlins.  Was Lee's decision to not head off to Tinsel Town a mistake? In this Three Minutes with T- Money on Ground Rule Radio, T- Money provides you with his two sense on this situation. JUST PRESS PLAY TO LISTEN! If you enjoy the show...

Miami Blanks Milwaukee

Facing record breaking temperatures in Milwaukee, the Miami Marlins shut the Brewers out 4-0 on Thursday.   The temperature hit 102 degrees at one point and Mark Buehrle threw 105 pitches in the sweltering heat.   The win was the second in a row for Miami and came on the day that Carlos Lee made his debut picking up a pair of hits. Buehrle struck out eight while improving to...

Lee makes a difference right away for Marlins

First baseman Carlos Lee didn't waste any time making an impact for his new team, the Marlins. Hours after he arrived at Miller Park following a trade with Houston, Lee doubled and scored Miami's first run in the fourth inning. He finished with two hits. "He's as advertised. He's a professional hitter. It doesn't take too long to see that," said...

Q&A: Logan Morrison, A Marlin In-between

Logan Morrison isn’t capable of producing the same type of offensive fireworks as Giancarlo Stanton. The 24-year-old “LoMo” doesn’t have his teammate’s light-tower power. But he can go yard. His left-handed stroke produced 23 long balls last year and his slugging percentage was a solid .468. Swinging for the fences simply isn’t his modus operandi. Morrison doesn’t fashion...

Marlins going for series split in Milwaukee

The Miami Marlins were supposed to challenge for the NL East title this season, but they're well back of the division lead with half the season gone. Perhaps the addition of first baseman Carlos Lee can provide a second-half boost. With Lee expected to make his Marlins debut Thursday, Miami will try to salvage a split of this four-game series with the host Milwaukee Brewers...

Source: Marlins acquire Carlos Lee

The Marlins, seeking to upgrade their production at first base, acquired Carlos Lee from the Astros on Wednesday, according to a major-league source. The Astros will receive two minor leaguers, third baseman Matt Dominguez and pitcher Rob Rasmussen, a source said. As part of the deal, the Astros will cover all of the approximately $9 million remaining on Lee's contract except...

Tater Trot Tracker: Hanley Ramirez Breaks the 30-second Barrier by Larry Granillo

Oh, the things you miss when you go on vacation... On June 3, Hanley Ramirez hit a home run off of Philadelphia's Joe Blanton, a leftfield wall-scraper that gave the Marlins an early 2-0 lead. It was his third home run in two games, and Ramirez looked to be off to a great start to the month. Miami's television announcer even allowed himself to dream aloud during the trot...

Marlins head to St. Louis prior to All-Star break

Despite a brutal 20-game stretch last month, the Miami Marlins have a chance to finish the first half with a winning record. If that's going to happen, they'll need to do something in St. Louis that no Marlins team has accomplished in 16 years. The Marlins visit Busch Stadium for the only time this season for three games against the Cardinals beginning Friday night. Since...

Ozzie Guillen Has Snapped, Marlins Continue To Struggle

The Miami Marlins were actually very good at one point, but that point was about a month ago. Since then, they have been very disappointing. After seeing themselves a 1/2 game behind the Washington Nationals for first place in the NL East, they have dropped nine games back. Last night, the Marlins played the Milwaukee Brewers. The South Beach Fishies were down 9-2 at one point,...

Marlins Acquire Carlos Lee

Carlos Lee is heading to Miami. While the 36-year-old first baseman vetoed a trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers last week, Lee accepted a deal that sent him to the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. Lee is clearly on the decline, but his .286/.336/.412 line is a nice upgrade over the .236/.292/.359 line put up by Marlins’ first basemen this season. Still, the Marlins are 39-42, and currently...

Marlins 7, Brewers 6(10)

Hanley Ramirez hit an RBI single off reliever Manny Parra in the 10th inning, and the Miami Marlins went on to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 7-6 Wednesday. Ramirez's big hit came after the Marlins rallied from a one-run deficit in the ninth, when Gaby Sanchez hit a solo home run off Brewers closer John Axford to tie the game at 6. After the Brewers left a pair of runners on base...

Marlins Aquire Carlos Lee

While the Marlins were/and still are battling it out with the Brewers the front office was busy making another trade with the Houston Astros.  At the end of May the Marlins made a trade with the Astros for Just Ruggiano, now the Marlins have made a trade for first baseman Carlos Lee.  Hopefully this trade will work out as well as the Ruggiano one. The Marlins has agreed to trade...

Dugout Digest - bullpen meltdown

I remember two offseasons ago, the Miami (then Florida) Marlins going on a crusade to improve their bullpen. They brought in guys like Ryan Webb, Edward Mujica, and Mike Dunn in trades, and were attempting to heavily retool things. And last year, it worked. The Marlins pen had a 3.44 ERA, a top ten mark in the league, and a half run improvement over 2010. But this season...

Marlins-Cardinals Preview

(AP) -- Despite a brutal 20-game stretch last month, the Miami Marlins have a chance to finish the first half with a winning record. If that's going to happen, they'll need to do something in St. Louis that no Marlins team has accomplished in 16 years. The Marlins visit Busch Stadium for the only time this season for three games against the Cardinals beginning Friday night...

Brewers' bullpen continues to torment team

MILWAUKEE Two strikes, two outs with the ninth inning winding down, John Axford is on the hill. It's a situation in which the Brewers were automatic last season, a year that saw the Milwaukee bullpen remain shockingly consistent. But on Wednesday, with Miami's Gaby Sanchez at the plate, and the Brewers in that same situation, an Axford fastball right down the middle would...
