PHOENIX (AP) -- Miami manager Ozzie Guillen was ejected after the top of the third inning of the Marlins' game against Arizona during an animated argument with first base umpire Angel Campos. It was only the second time this season Guillen has been tossed. Guillen's argument came after the Marlins' Donovan Salano was picked off trying to steal second. Television replays showed batter Carlos Lee tried unsuccessfully tried to call time out just before Salano was picked off on a throw from pitcher Tyler Skaggs to first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, who threw to second baseman Aaron Hill. The game was the opener of the first home doubleheader in the Diamondbacks' 15-year history.

Ozzie Guillen: I need the FBI or DEA to protect Giancarlo Stanton

There are very few pitchers in baseball who look forward to facing young Marlins star Giancarlo Stanton. The 22-year-old outfielder is hitting .292 this season with 22 homers and 66 RBI. Whenever an opponent gets the opportunity to pitch around him, they almost always cash in. This leads to some tricky lineup decisions for Ozzie Guillen, who has recently been criticized for not giving...

Ozzie Guillen Ready to Turn to FBI, DEA to Protect Giancarlo Stanton in Marlins Lineup

If you're a Major League Baseball pitcher, you might want to avoid pitching to Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton. Because if you do decide to pitch to the guy who's built like a brick outhouse, very bad things can happen to you. You know, things like this. Or this. And this. The decision to give Stanton anything in the strike zone becomes even more insane when you consider...

Ozzie Guillen suggests that a roster shakeup is due for the Marlins

Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen is at it again. The controversial manager once again failed to reel in his tongue in regards to potential upcoming roster moves that could shake up the franchise. “If we’re going to be younger here, then OK, what kind of young team are we going to have?” Guillen said on Thursday. “Are we going to go forward, or are we going to stay the...

Despite long absence, Marlins' Stanton still could win home run title

Miami Marlins right fielder Giancarlo Stanton has 26 home runs, tied for third in the National League with Arizona's Jason Kubel behind Ryan Braun (33) and Carlos Beltran (28). Stanton is on pace to finish with 34 home runs, which would match his career high, set last year in 150 games. But manager Ozzie Guillen said Stanton has a shot to win the National League home run title...

The Chicago White Sox placed outfielder and leadoff hitter Alejandro De Aza on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with bruised left ribs and recalled outfielder Jordan Danks from Triple-A Charlotte. Marlins take on D-backs in doubleheader

It's almost fitting that the Arizona Diamondbacks will play the franchise's first doubleheader in Phoenix on a day severe thunderstorms are expected to hit the valley. The inclement weather, however, has nothing to do with the twinbill at the retractable-roof ballpark. The Diamondbacks are hopeful Wednesday's day-night doubleheader goes a bit better than their first...
