The Florida Marlins placed left-hander Randy Choate on the 15-day disabled list because of inflammation in his left elbow.
Choate complained of tightness in the elbow after his last outing on Monday and had flown back to Florida to have it examined
The Marlins recalled right-hander Chris Hatcher from Double-A Jacksonville to take Choate's roster spot.
The 35-year-old Choate is 1-1 with a 1.82 ERA in 54 appearances this season.
