Ahead 0-2 on Donovan Solano with two out in the sixth Mets' ace Matt Harvey was almost out of it. One more strike and the inning ends. The Marlins strand three and the Mets are looking at a manageable 1-0 deficit. The array of pitches that followed was dizzying. Solano saw the full spectrum of the repertoire that made Harvey the National League's All-Star Game starter: 86-mph changeup 92-mph slider 98-mph fastball. On the ninth pitch of the at-bat after fouling off four pitches and working the count back to 2-2 Solano lined a ball into right-center for a two-run single. The Marlins overcame five dominant Harvey innings to win 3-0 Thursday and split the four-game set after dropping the first two. The Marlins have won 10 of 15 meetings with the Mets and clinched the season series. Two teams have a four-game set remaining including a Sept. 14 doubleheader at Citi Field. Winless in four starts against the Marlins Harvey began the day with a 3.12 ERA in 17 1/3 innings against them and a 1.90 ERA in 132 2/3 innings versus everybody else. He looked poised to finally beat the Marlins after allowing one hit and striking out seven in retiring 15 of the first 17 batters one of whom reached on a fielding error.
