The Miami Marlins made two major roster moves Sunday, placing outfielder Emilio Bonifacio on the 15-day disabled with a sprained left thumb and optioning first baseman Gaby Sanchez to Class AAA New Orleans. Bonifacio, who leads the major leagues with 20 stolen bases, hurt the thumb getting picked off first base Friday. It was the first time he had been caught stealing this season. Sanchez was the Marlins' lone All-Star Game participant last year. However, this season he has struggled, batting .197 with one home run and 11 RBIs. Also, second baseman Omar Infante left the team to fly to his grandfather's funeral. He is expected to be placed on the bereavement list.

Indians Shut Fish Out

The Miami Marlins dropped Saturday’s game to the Cleveland Indians by a final score of 2-0 to even the interleague series up.    Miami only managed three hits while being shut out and it felt like a lot more than a two run deficit due to the sluggish offense.    With the loss, the Marlins have slipped back to only two games over .500 and remain in a tie for third place in...

Rockies-Marlins Preview

May has been kind to the Miami Marlins, as the club has climbed out of last place in its division and is suddenly playing like a contender. The same cannot be said for the Colorado Rockies. The Marlins look to continue their surge and move a season-best four games over .500 in Monday night's series opener with the slumping Rockies. After finishing April with an 8-14 record...

Series Preview: Tigers at Indians 5/22-24

The Indians remain in first place despite losing the last series to the Miami Marlins. With a three game lead over the Tigers, even with a sweep the Tribe will be tied for first as long as Chicago doesn't sweep the Twins. Of course the Indians will be looking to sweep as well over Tigers as that would put them up 6 games late in May. After the Detroit series the Indians will...
